Those who have not heard of Rebecca Thomas will. It did not take long for the Columbia University School of the Arts alum to become a sought-after voice in Hollywood. The New York Times described her work as a “surreal mélange infused with magical realism.” Much of what Rebecca puts on the screen needs to be seen to be believed.Rebecca’s writing and directing feature debut, Electrick Children (2012), premiered at Berlin International Film Festival and screened at South by Southwest. The film earned her the Directors to Watch Award at Palm Springs International Film Festival, the FIPRESCI Award at PKO Off Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow, Poland, and a nomination for the Someone to Watch Independent Spirit Award. Rebecca has since directed “Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister,” a fan-favorite episode of Netflix’s global juggernaut, Stranger Things, multiple episodes of Facebook Watch’s Limetown, starring Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci, and Quibi’s When the Street Lights Go On.
