Henry Jen has long loved art, design, film, and photography. His love grew deep after he failed all his other classes at school. Henry has always understood images. He prides himself on creating “spatial moments of life and light.” Often praised for his unique eye, Henry is known for charismatic images which make people, places, and things seem more alive.
While a high school student, Henry sought training in photography and worked odd jobs to save up for his first camera. He then put together many photography exhibitions, with group shows alongside high-profile New Zealand artists Nigel Brown, Philip Clairmont, Pat Hanly, Ralph Hotere, and Terry Stringer. It wasn’t long before Henry found himself behind the lens on commercial shoots and took home a Silver Cannes Lion and a D&AD Award.
Fluent in English and Mandarin, Henry divides his time between Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand, and China. When not crafting beautiful moments for advertising campaigns, the director and cinematographer is usually at work on his own films.
